Breakfast Feb-2023
February 20, 2023 @ 7:30 am - 9:00 am
Join DAD for a look at some of the issues driving deliberations on local County Boards. Our guest speakers are Phyllis Randall, Chair of the Loudoun County of Supervisors, and James Walkinshaw, Fairfax County Supervisor for the Braddock District. They will address a range of issues, including equity initiatives, budgetary priorities, and County-State relations in our fraught political environment.
Chairwoman Randall recently led Loudoun’s approval of an initiative adopting social and racial equity as fundamental values guiding decisions by the County Board of Supervisors. Implementation of this Equity Resolution will use data-driven methods to identify priorities for budgetary action and to reduce disparities and distribute resources equitably across Loudoun’s citizenry.
Supervisor Walkinshaw chairs the Legislative Committee of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. This puts him at the center of County interactions with the Youngkin administration and its conservative activist agenda. Supervisor Walkinshaw served more than a decade as Congressman Gerry Connolly’s Chief of Staff and policy advisor.
Local government is at the forefront in shaping inclusive policy that determines the quality of life in our communities. Join these local leaders to share thoughts on how to continue forward progress during Gov. Youngkin’s term of office
